Effective Lice Removal

Compared to a plastic Nit Comb, metal combs are suggested to be more effective in the removal of lice from the scalp, as they have more stiff teeth and narrow slots between them, whereas plastic combs often skip over nits.

How to Remove Lice

  1. To effectively remove dead lice and nits, follow these steps:
  2. Remove tangles from damp hair using the wide-tooth side of a comb after shampooing and treating with Nix Crème Rinse. Apply Nix gel to help comb out the hair and keep it moist.
  3. Part the hair into four pieces while it is still damp. One portion at a time should be worked on. If your hair becomes dry while you're working on it, moisten it again.
  4. Take one section of the comb, hold it out, and bring the teeth of the smaller-tooth side as close to the scalp as feasible. Comb the hair in a firm, even motion away from the scalp to the ends.
  5. As you work on your hair, make sure to clean the comb frequently. To prevent lice from returning, wipe the dead lice and nits from the comb with a tissue and throw in a plastic bag.
  6. To avoid recontamination from leftover nits, pin back completed pieces.
  7. Recheck the entire head for nits after combing, and repeat if required.
  8. Check the affected head on a daily basis for any nits that may have escaped your notice.
